Hiking is a sport that everybody can do. But, like every other mountain activity, hiking calls for a minimum of knowledge and equipment.

For the equipment, have good shoes, ideally ankle boots so that feet and ankles are well maintained. Clothes must be comfortable and accorded to the day's weather.
Plan to have a backpack with water and some snack (cereal bars or dried fruits for example) as to avoid starving.

Concerning the itinerary, it's important to choose it carefully. Don't go at random, but select a path based on its difficulties (ground, difference in altitude, length…) and on your interest for the upcoming march. Beginners will prefer short itineraries of half a day (like 2 or 5 hours per loop).

For security reasons, never go alone. Go with family, friends or a mountain guide whose great knowledge of the environment will allow you to discover the secrets of the mountain.

Finally, it's strongly advised that you watch and anticipate the weather, plan on taking a small first aid kit and have a cellular phone with you. And don't forget to warn at least one person that you go hiking, and give them the approximate length of your tour.

Enjoy your hiking!
