Originally, the name of the village of Les Diablerets was Le Plan des Isles, composed of several hamlets. Often, the postal workers used to mistake Le Plan des Isles and Le Plan sur Bex ; then, we needed to find another name to distinguish those two places.

There was, at Le Plan des Isles, an establishment named Hôtel des Diablerets that received its name by the mountains of the region. Then, to simplify things, people decided do designate Le Plan des Isles, Les Diablerets.
